DAY 23-LAHAINA, MAUI

Clicking on the photos will enlarge them.
Our position today is just off shore the town of Lahaina on the island of Maui.  There is no dock for cruise ships here so we have to take the tender boats ashore.  We arrived here shortly after 7:00 am as it is very noisy when they drop the forward anchor.

WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
I went to see the ship's doctor at 6:00 pm.  I was only person at "sick call".  She examined me and my neck.  She gave me muscle relaxant, anti-inflamatory, and pain pills.  I am to go back in three days if not better.
Veal Parmesan we had for dinner.
                                Chocolate mousse cake

The show last night was excellent.  This is the local Hawaiian group, "Maunalua".  The hula women were the wives of the musician/singers.  We really enjoyed the Hawaiian music and songs.

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
Sun coming up this morning over Maui.
View today from our balcony is the island of Lanai a few miles to the west if Maui.
One of our tenders returning with the small town of Lahaina in background.
Peaceful this morning as most everyone went ashore.  I walked around the upper pool deck for an hour.
Lahaina
Resort town of Kaanepali a few miles to the north of Lahaina.
                                             Lahaina
Cloud obscuring the tops of mountains inland.
I grabbed a quick hot dog for lunch at the pool grill, grabbed my camera, and proceeded to go ashore.  Rebecca stayed on board.  Below is the tender I took ashore.

Shops of all kinds lined Front Street.  Mostly souvenir shops.

It was very pleasant day ashore.  No humidy and upper 70's.  I was back on board at 1:30 and now in coffee connection room finishing up this post.  No big plans for this evening.  Cocktails followed by dinner in Compass Rose as usual.  Tonight's menu does not grab me but there is always something I can eat.  Chef Michael and his galley team will be featuring a "Hawaiian Luau Dinner" up in La Veranda restaurant this evening.  Will not be going to tonight's show as it is featuring the ship's singers and we do not care for them.  The ship will set sail at 6:00 this evening for Kauai.
