DAY 10-AT SEA

Click on photos to enlarge them.
Our position at noon today.  Off the Mexican coast heading for Acapulco.
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
We met Mary and Susanne in the Galileo's Lounge for pre-dinner cocktails.  The ship's show band was playing pre-dinner music.  Unfortunately, they were playing way too loud so it was impossible to have a conversation.
Rebecca and I enjoyed this appetizer--Alaskan Crab Salad
This is the platter of fried chicken the chef prepared for us last night.  I told him how I make my chicken gravy and he said he could do it too.  His was actually pretty good but not as good as mine.
Our head waiter, Jason, served the chicken.
Mary Wheeler and Susanne Peters joined us for the chicken.
After dinner we enjoyed the ventriloquist's show in the theater.  He was very good and kept the audience laughing throughout the show.

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
It is a day at sea as we sail up the western coast line of Mexico enroute to Acapulco.  We are scheduled to be docking there by 8:00 am tomorrow.  We did not go to Compass Rose for their champagne and caviar breakfast today.  After breakfast from room service we attended Jamie and Dana's interdenominational church service.  There were at least 50 passengers attending.
It is a bit rough sailing in the morning with the wind at 50+ knots out of the north.  As the day goes on it seems to be calming down some.  Not too bad now this afternoon.  There are lots of activities scheduled during sea days but we are staying in our suite today.  I have "1310 The Ticket, streaming online on my laptop.  This is the Dallas radio station of the Dallas Cowboys and is carrying the pre-game and Cowboys vs Packers playoff game this afternoon.  Regent will not pay to have the NFL playoff games televised on board even though most all other cruise lines do.  At game time we lost radio but I found a live tv feed on internet.  So we are actually watching the game.  It cuts in and out some because of poor internet here on the ship when most passengers are using it.
At the pool deck grill at noon is this Mexican buffet.  Big pan on left is chicken enchiladas and on right is chili con carne.  I had a gigantic burrito and some chix enchilada.  OINK!  I even had for dessert some no sugar added mango ice cream.
We have been invited to dine with Davor, the General Manager, tonight in Compass Rose.  We had planned on having pizza from room service after the Cowboy's game but just could not turn down Davor's invitation.  We saw him this morning and asked if he could change the time to 7:15 instead of 7:00 to make sure the game was over by then.  Above is tonight's specials on menu.  The actual menu is much larger as they have many things that are offered on the menu every day.  We will be having the French onion soup, marinaded hearts of palm (we'll ask waiter for avocado too) with green goddess dressing, and probably the grilled red snapper.  The snapper is fresh as came aboard yesterday.
The show after dinner features Shirley Dominguez, a harpist.  Now the harp is not my favorite instrument but have to give the show a chance.  All headliner entertainment so far on the cruise has been outstanding.

MEET THE CREW:
This is Michael the senior bartender on Navigator.  He is 37 and has been working for Regent since 2006.  We met him back in 2010 on our first world cruise.  His first job was as a deck steward and worked his way up the ranks to senior bartender.  He assures each bar is manned correctly, and if need be, helps out if one bar gets real busy.  Michael is from the Philippines where he has a wife and two sons, 6 & 10 years old.  His contracts are 8 months long with Regent then has 2 months off. When home he enjoys playing with his sons, dropping them off and picking them up from school, playing basketball, and spending time in his car.  He told me he will even eat lunch and take a nap in his car.  He loves his job here on board.  He is very personable and enjoys talking with us passengers. He claims to be a New England Patriots fan so we are trying to convert him to the Cowboys!!

Ok, I am going to publish this post as the Cowboy's game is about to begin.  We are watching it on the internet.  Right after the game we will have to rush to the dining room for dinner with Davor and another couple.  We have our Cowboy's attire on now for the game but will change prior to dinner.  Acapulco tomorrow and going to see the cliff divers.
