DAY 13-CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO

Left clicking on photos will enlarge them.
It is a rather chilly day here.  74 degrees

Just 20 years ago Cabo was just a small fishing village but today with a population of 70,000 it has become one of Mexico’s top 5 tourist destinations.  It’s known for its beaches, scuba diving, golfing, marine life, and scenery.  There are many resorts, timeshares, and gated residential communities which have become the destination of Hollywood stars and company CEO’s.  It is also a very popular cruise ship port of call.  We were here just two years ago on another cruise.  Despite safety concerns of tourists traveling to Mexico, Cabo remains one of the safest tourist destinations in the world.  Cabo has no cruise ship dock so we are anchored off shore and will be using the ship’s tenders to go ashore today.
                                     Sun coming up this morning
Cabo early morning from our balcony
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
This is the lounge up on deck 11 aft.  We had cocktails here last night.
We enjoyed this bottle of a Chilean cabernet in Prime 7
This is Newman, a sommelier, pouring my wine.

I had this prime ribeye steak.

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
I was suppose to have a 4x4 jeep safari excursion but it was cancelled.  I have put the link of the photos I took in Cabo San Lucas during our cruise here in November of 2014.  I had a great tour and the day was absolutely beautiful.  Left click on the first photo then you can arrow through the rest.  In the top right corner of first photo you will see a "i" in a white circle.  Click on it then you will be able to read the captions I added.  I know you will enjoy the 60+ photos.  Sorry but you will have to "cut & paste" this link on a new tab.

Regent's newest ship, the Explorer, will be arriving in Cabo at noon today.  We have signed up to go over and visit the ship.  Want to see the ship, crew, and our entertainer friend, Bobby Arvon. Bobby just got on Explorer and will be doing headliner shows for a few days.  Bobby will be on the Navigator during the last segment of our world cruise entertaining us.  We are really looking forward to our visit to the Explorer.
This is the Explorer which arrived here at 11:30 this morning.
During our visit to the Explorer this afternoon we got to see our friend, Bobby Arvon.  He is a headliner entertainer and doing a couple shows on the Explorer.  He is "Mr Happy Days" as sung the theme for that old TV show.  He is an amazing entertainer and will be getting on our ship in Funchal on May 4th and doing some shows here.  We also got to see several crew member friends who all remembered us.
This incredible chandelier hangs in the atrium which looks more like a fancy hotel lobby.  We were shown around the ship by Gudrun, the cruise consultant on Explorer now.  The ship is so spacious and luxuriously decorated.  I only took the above photo as photos would not do this amazing ship justice.  It definitely has a big WOW factor!!!  As we sailed out of Cabo this evening the Captain sailed all the way around the Explorer.  The outer decks were lined with our passengers waving bye. Really neat!

Tonight we are joining our cruise directors, Jamie and Dana, for dinner.  They were the cruise directors on our 2010 world cruise so know them well.  Definitely want to see tonight's show.  Don Bryan is the ventriloquist who had everyone in stitches during his first show.  We will sail at 4:00pm and have a day at sea tomorrow.

MEET THE CREW:
This is Zyra who is 24 years old and from the Philippines.  This is her first contract with Regent and has been working for just 2 months now.  She is a florist and maintains the public areas to make sure they are always clean.  She has a BS degree in nursing back in the Philippines.  Her hobby is playing the guitar and piano.

This is Bakaytgul who is 26 years old and is from Kazakhstan, a country in central Asia by Russia and China.  She has been working in the coffee connection this segment during the day and works as an assistant server in the dining room in the evening.  This is also her first contract with Regent and has been working for 5 months now.  Prior to working here she was working in a hotel back home.  She did a 6 months internship in Minnesota in a hotel there.  Prior to this she studied English by reading books in English and listening to tapes in English and watching movies in the English language.  She has learned well as her English is better than mine!
