Our position at noon today. As you see earlier this morning we passed some of the Great Barrier Reef islands on our right side. Very smooth sailing last night and today again. Some passing rain showers today with overcast skies and 80 degrees.
This shows our route to Singapore which will be the end of the 3rd segment of our world cruise.
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
As you will see in today's photos we enjoyed probably our favorite entree, miso sea bass, for dinner last night. If you were to order it in a restaurant it would cost nearly $40. I pigged out and had two last night. We also made a special order for tonight's dinner. We ordered southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas. We also ordered a special salad: hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, avocado, cherry tomatoes with green goddess dressing. On the appetizer menu tonight is black muscles which I also love.
We then went to see The Tap Pack's show. It was great!! Four Aussies who tap danced throughout their show in addition to singing. It was an unusual kind of show then the many others we have seen on cruise ships. Definitely want to see their second show.
WHAT WE DID TODAY:
Weather wise, kind of a yucky day. Early this morning we passed some of the islands that are part of the Great Barrier Reef. Some of them are inhabited. I took some photos but the weather was not very cooperative. The depth of water here in the Great Barrier Reef in not very deep. At noon the depth of the water under our keel was just over 100 feet. This is why we have a "reef pilot" with us on the bridge as long as we are sailing along the reef. There are areas that we are cruising in that a reef pilot is mandatory. Regent has one on board whether or not they are mandatory. The reef pilot is also giving lectures about his job and the reef. Super interesting!!
At 10:30 this morning there was a combination crew and passenger emergency drill. We have to have these refresher drills every 14 days. Not one of our favorite things to do. After the drill we went to the fitness center to workout. After that it was lunch time. Rebecca had a protein bar again. I ordered a pizza from room service but the sauce was so sweet I could not eat it. So, I ordered a tuna salad sandwich.
This morning Davor, our General Manager, handed me an advance copy of a change in our itinerary. This is the second change involving Myanmar (the old Burma). We have not been there and was one of the reasons we wanted to do this world cruise. Originally we were to spend 3 days in Yangoon, Myanmar. Then 2 weeks ago they changed it to spend 4 days there. Now today, we will not be going there at all. Reason quoted was the tides would not allow us to enter. There is a photo of our new itinerary after leaving Singapore. We have been to the new ports they added. I like the added overnight in Thailand. The Malaysia ports are also interesting. So it is what it is!! Cho, a waiter, just came in to get my lunch tray. He is from Myanmar and we told him how disappointed we were not to be going there now. He was looking forward to seeing his family while there but now that will not be happening. We feel so badly for him.
During the drill this morning we found out that Elena, one of the bartenders, was being promoted tomorrow to Bar Manager. Elena is from Romania and a wonderful lady. I saw her up in pool bar at noon and congratulated her. She looked shocked and asked how I knew it. I told her I knew EVERYTHING on the ship!
Ok, here is the link to today's photos.

This afternoon after I publish this, we plan to watch the movie, "La La Land". The reef pilot has another lecture at 5:45 this evening that I want to attend. After that we'll have cocktails before heading to Compass Rose for our fried chicken dinner. We want to see tonight's headliner entertainer, Bayne Bacon, for an evening of music and laughter. We think we have seen him perform on another of our cruises.
Tomorrow we should be docked in Cairns, Australia, by 8:00 am. We will be there until 8:00 pm. I have a 5 hour tour scheduled for 8:30. Rebecca is not going. Rain forecast so not sure about it.
