We docked at noon today in St George on the island of Bermuda. It was sunny for our arrival but clouds moving in during afternoon. It is a breezy 75 degrees.
BACKGROUND INFO:
Oh, no!!! This is our last port of call before arriving back at Miami. We were originally scheduled to be docking in Hamilton, the capital city of the British Overseas Territory, Bermuda. That was changed to the port at St. George's for some reason. The island lies 570 miles off the coast of North Carolina in the Atlantic. There are really only two cities on the island: Hamilton & St George’s. St George’s is on the northern end of the island and was its first capital. It was established in 1612 and is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the New World. Bermuda’s economy is based on offshore insurance & finance and tourism.
Bermuda is a cluster of some 150 small islands all of volcanic origin. Only about a dozen of the islands are inhabited with most of the uninhabited ones being little more than rocks. There is a string of pinkish-white sand beaches on some islands.
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
First let me say that Bobby Arvon's show last night was fantastic!! He received another enthusiastic standing ovation at the show's end. Bobby, Rebecca, and I went up to the Galileo Lounge for a night cap after the show. The ship's orchestra was playing a "Big Band" set which is right up Bobby's alley. He sang and played piano with them for one song which the audience was super appreciative.
We had a GREAT time visiting with Bob & Nicki Sass last night at dinner. We decided to dine up in Sette Mari, the Italian restaurant. They have been in the suite next to us during this world cruise. They also sailed with us on our 2010 world cruise, although we didn't really know them then.
WHAT WE DID TODAY:
We were up on deck 12 in the fitness center doing our workouts as we pulled into the bay at St George. The inlet was very narrow so only small ships can dock here. We joined Bobby for lunch in Compass Rose. We had planned on having dinner with him as I ordered veal parmesan for three in Compass Rose. He said that Yakov Smirnoff, the comedian, had called and wanted to do dinner with Bobby so we will now be dining with Bobby, Yakov, and his girl friend.
I started to go ashore at 3:00. Good thing I didn't as was raining at 3:15. A Luggage Free representative came onboard today and will be handing out the luggage tags for the pieces they will be shipping back to the WC passenger's homes. They started at 3:00 pm today so I went up and got our four tags. As part of our WC package we can ship 200 lbs to and from the ship at no additional charge. So we are shipping 4 bags and taking 4 more bags with us on plane.

Tonight's show is the last production show. We went to the first two back in January and have not been back. We do not care of the very young and inexperienced cast. When the corporate Director of Entertainment Operations, Pamela Pitcash, was on board a couple weeks ago she made me promise we would go see the "World Beat" production show. Well, that is the show tonight. So we will go give it a try. I am to email her tomorrow my feelings about it.
We will be sailing at 7:00 pm for Miami. It is a 1050 mile trip so will be arriving there Saturday morning early. Hopefully, we will have two days of smooth sailing to end the cruise.
