Our position at noon today is about midway across the Atlantic Ocean. If you look close at our course line you will notice the Captain altered course to the south at 1:00 am this morning. He said he made the decision because we had 60+ knot winds and swells of 25 feet hitting the ship like a wall of water. It has been a rough morning with 30 knot winds from the northwest and swells of 15 feet. We have partly clouds skies and temperature of 66F. He said the weather should start to improve later today and tomorrow as we are just now past the big low pressure storm area.
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
The ship was really rocking and rolling last night and we figured Bobby's show may be postponed due to it. Jamie, our cruise director, left it up to Bobby whether or not he could do his show. Being the ultimate showman and professional he is, Bobby did his show. His shows always starts with a video & audio recording of "The Happy Days" old tv show's intro. Bobby sang the theme for that show. His show was GREAT! Due to the ship's movement, the theater was only about half full but those there loved his show and gave him a rousing standing ovation.
WHAT WE DID TODAY:
During the night the ocean calmed down some due to winds dying down some. The Captain also altered the ship's course further to the south to avoid some of the winds. At 10:00 am the ocean is again very rough with gale force winds causing nearly 15 foot swells. No way we can do our workouts today. Looking at the North Atlantic weather satellite on the internet this morning, it appears we are on the back side of the big low pressure system causing all this. This was confirmed by the Captain during his noon PA. Did not try to go to the Interdenominational church service this morning. Walking on the ship is a challenge today. I feel sorry for the crew as they have to continue working while ship is rocking and rolling. Luckily we still have tv and internet service. Many times like this, the communications equipment on board cannot track the satellite.
We have a suite steward and stewardess. Rodelo, the steward, has been sea sick for the past two days but is still working. I see he is wearing a patch behind his ear but once you are sick, you stay sick! One of the cans of Coke Zero has exploded in our frig so now Rodelo is cleaning up the big mess.
Rebecca is trying to hold the door open for Rodelo while he cleans the frig. She has to brace herself against balcony doors and holding on to the table to keep from being thrown around.
We both had chicken Caesar salads from room service for lunch. We decided to let the crew do the walking. This afternoon I watched a movie, "The Accountant", while Rebecca read. I have now started watching another, "The Aftermath".
This evening we are having cocktails and dinner with Bobby and our cruise directors, Jamie and Dana. We also plan on seeing tonight's headliner show called "Five O'Clock Somewhere" featuring a couple who sings and plays several instruments.
