DAY 111-MARSEILLE, FRANCE

Dreary and cold day in Marseille.  51 degrees at 1:00 pm

Today we docking in France’s second largest city, Marseille.  Of course, Paris is its largest.  With a population of 900,000 it is located on the southeast coast and is France’s largest port.  Nearly 1 million cruise ship passengers visit the port city every year.  We have been here a few times.
Today our excursion, “Discover Saint Remy de Provence” was to visit the birthplace of Nostradamus in 1503 (he was a French astrologer/forecaster) and where Vincent Van Gogh completed over 150 paintings and sketches in 1889 & 1890.  But, we both decided to cancel.  Today is a dreary, overcast day, and very cold.  Neither of us are lovers of France anyway.  On our first visit to Paris several years ago, we found the people rude and we do not care for either French foods or their wines.
The ship is very quiet this morning with most off on tours.  There was only one other couple (they like us work out every day) in the fitness center.  We had lunch with our friend, Susanne Peters, in Compass Rose.  Rebecca enjoyed a grill shrimp Caesar salad and I had nice cajun grilled bream fish on black beans.
We had a meeting a 40 minute meeting this afternoon with Regent's Director of Entertainment, Pamela Petcash.  I wanted to express our thoughts on the new production cast and possibly being able to see NFL playoff & Final Four games on the ships.  Also said movies on tv, especially on WC, needs to be changed more often.
This evening we will be meeting our friends, Renee & Terry Kershner, from Rhode Island and Santa Fe, for cocktail and dinner in Compass Rose.  We may try to go see the flutist's show as missed his first one.
We will be sailing this evening at 6:00 pm for Barcelona, Spain, arriving there tomorrow morning.  Sorry no photos today.
