Blog Reminder
For those new to my blogs and as a reminder to others, February is a new month. So to see my January posts you will have to use the "blog archive" on the right side below the picture of the ship. You will need to left click on "January" and then there will be the postings for that month to select from. As always, I recommend you enlarge the photos by clicking on them.
This was our position at noon today. Basically in the middle of nowhere. The outside air temperature in 82 degrees which is about the same as the ocean temperature. As you can see it is warming up and the humidity is also going up. Since I am not planning to go out that's fine with me. There are quite a few folks out pool side today. We are on a south southeasterly heading with an average speed of 18.6 knots. We have a 15 knot wind out of the north east so it is not too windy up on the walking tract (deck 11). There are numerous rain showers in the area this afternoon so we are in and out of the sun.
WHAT WE DID LAST NIGHT:
Our cruise director, Jamie, likes to hold a "ship wide down home get-together". He has a place for passengers of each state to meet and get to know each other.
Above is the list showing the number of passengers from each state. So at 6:00 pm we met our fellow Coloradians in the Stars Lounge. All 10 of us showed up and it was a great group. We were the only ones from Durango.
After having a cocktail we had dinner in Compass Rose where we both enjoyed the turkey & stuffing as our entree. There was also gravy but not like the gravy Americans are use to. The gravy on board is brown and not made from the turkey pan drippings and turkey broth. Oh, well, it was good.
We got to the dining room earlier than normal and people were just starting to come in. Mario, our favorite waiter, served us right away and we were out of the dining room by 7:30. So we went back to our suite to wait until 9:00 before heading to the theater. Mark Newsome was the headliner entertainer. He mixed comedy with his great voice and piano playing. I think everyone enjoyed the show.
WHAT WE DID TODAY:
Yesterday the Captain said it would smooth out around midnight but it didn't. It was still a rough night but by noon it had smoothed out quite a bit. Rebecca had room service breakfast at 7:30 but I did not get up until 8:45. I had my morning coffee and a muffin in coffee connection where I checked my email and did some blog writing. I will probably post this just after the Captain's noon PA so I can put our noon position on.
There is a Tex Mex buffet at noon at the pool deck grill. We both got our workout done this morning as it was smooth enough to be able to stay on the treadmill. Rebecca does a half hour on the treadmill and I did almost an hour on the recumbent bike. The fitness center is on deck 12 (top deck) so it is always rougher up there. I may attend the 3:00 pm enrichment lecture on how to take better photos with a digital camera and smart phone.
This evening we plan to dine with Susanne Peters again. I have requested the chef prepare some good ole fried chicken for the three of us. As you may recall the last time I requested it I told chef Michael I wanted cream gravy (not brown) and explained to him how I make it. It was not as good as mine but definitely better than brown gravy. Paul Edison, a headliner entertainer, is returning to the stage tonight for his second show. We definitely want to hear him. Showtime is the usual 9:30.
I had forgotten about this really unusual trait of the French Polynesian islands. Tonight we will turn our clocks forward a "half hour" for our visit to Nuka Hiva. After leaving there we will turn our clocks back a half hour. Weird!!
