We hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a white one as began snowing on Christmas Eve. I mentioned in last post that we had a sale contract on our Dallas house. Well, the sale closed on 27th and funded yesterday, 28th. Now I can get the mortgage paid off on our new Durango house before we leave on the cruise. You have no idea how happy we are now!!
We are continuing with packing today. As I mentioned we will be taking four more large pieces which will be checked at airline. We will also be taking our two carry-ons and my backpack with my two laptops. I always take two laptops in case one craps out. The blog MUST go on!! By the way, the four pieces of luggage we had sent FedEx are at the port of Miami.
We have had sunny skies and mid 40's temperatures all this week. Wouldn't you know it, when we have to drive to Albuquerque beginning of next week, it is forecast to snow. Suppose to snow Sunday and Monday. We have to be in Albuquerque by evening of the 3rd. Our flight is 5:00 am on 4th. OUCH, that is early!! So I want bags packed in case we have to leave this weekend.
Yesterday, I got a new Honeywell wifi thermostat installed. Now I will be able to monitor what the temperature is in our house from the ship. Our heating system is radiant heat from hot water pipes in the floors of all rooms. If system quits, I need to know as do not want pipes freezing under floors. I have hired a house manager to check house physically every so often also.
Well, we will be sailing on the world cruise one week exactly from today. We have been anticipating this for nearly a year now. Rebecca is having some health issues so trying to get them resolved ASAP. She will be ok.
We lost a dear friend yesterday, Bjorn Johnsen. I am mentioning it as some of our Regent friends who follow my blog will want to know. We met Bjorn Johnsen on our 2010 world cruise. He was the Chief Engineer aboard the RSSC Voyager. He and Captain Daag were both Norwegian but Bjorn lived in the Dallas area. Our friendship continued after that cruise. He and I would meet at Twin Peaks for lunch every so often. Bjorn always had a huge smile and was full of fun. Diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago, he fought a courageous battle which ended yesterday. He will be missed.
